API Keys

If you use the Cloud (Voiceavel) provider, no API key is needed — everything is included with your Pro license.

To use OpenAI or Groq BYOK providers, you need to configure your API keys in Voiceavel.

OpenAI API Key

1. Go to platform.openai.com/api-keys
2. Click Create new secret key
3. Copy the key
4. In Voiceavel, click the menu bar icon → Settings → OpenAI API Key
5. Paste your key

OpenAI charges ~$0.006 per minute of audio. A typical day of heavy use costs a few cents.

Groq API Key

1. Go to console.groq.com/keys
2. Click Create API Key
3. Copy the key
4. In Voiceavel, click the menu bar icon → Settings → Groq API Key
5. Paste your key

Groq offers a generous free tier. Most users won't need to pay for Groq usage.

Security

API keys are stored securely in your macOS Keychain. They are never sent to Voiceavel's servers — only directly to the respective provider (OpenAI or Groq) when you make a transcription request.
